Amazon Reviewer Gives 5 Stars to Greylock

John J. Staughton, leading Amazon Reviewer, gives 5 stars to GREYLOCK.

“This is a rare and beautiful piece of writing by an author with an unpredictable and exceptional command of language and mood. To create a dark masterpiece such as this one, not only must you look into the darkness, but also fish out the corners of your own soul, delving into dangerous narrative waters to create such a powerful tone. The combination of musical knowledge, history, dramatic storytelling, and a world-spanning tale made this impossible to put down, and the Faustian brilliance of the plot was a true pleasure to read. I can’t tell you the last time I so enjoyed a story about musicians – perhaps because this one was about so much more – but I look forward to reading more by Cappa. This was a symphony in itself, a powerful statement to follow up the Dazzling Darkness. I couldn’t be more impressed or pleased, and look forward to the rest.”

Here’s What’s Newsy in Paula Cappa’s Fiction

I’ve got a bit of buzz going on with my  supernatural mystery writing these days, so here’s a quick update.

After Winning an Eric Hoffer Book Award, Night Sea Journey, A Tale of the Supernatural just got a review from U.S. Review of Books.

“Stunning and absorbing plot on par with—if not better than—a Dan Brown novel. Truly an outstanding read, Night Sea Journey is one book that is hard to put down!” You can read more at U.S. Review of Books here.

The Dazzling Darkness is holding its Amazon Kindle Best Seller status, in  ghost  genre, for 14 weeks now. This story has really connected to a healthy number  of ghost  story  lovers.

Midwest Book Review ★★★★★ “Paula Cappa is a master of the metaphysical  mystery genre…an extraordinary and original storyteller of the first rank. Very  highly recommended.”

I have three short stories available on Amazon Kindle (99 cents), Hildie at the Ghost Shore; The Haunting of Jezebeth; Between the Darkness and the Dawn.  See links and book covers to the right.

What’s coming up?

The Magic of the Loons, a short story of magical realism, a little bit sexy and a little bit fantasy. Will release on Amazon in September for 99 cents. This story was previously published at Dark Gothic Resurrected Magazine.

And my third novel, Greylock, is in it final stages of editorial revisions (5 years’ work). Music, the supernatural, and the power of desire.  Murder, lies, betrayal, romance—and the phantasm.

5-Star Book Review for Night Sea Journey, Amazon Reviewer

5 STARS from Amazon Book Reviewer Karen Ruggerio
NIGHT SEA JOURNEY, A Tale of the Supernatural
Buy at Amazon US      Buy at Amazon UK     Buy at Barnes & Noble

“I am new into the supernatural world, and this was one of my first books in the genre. I must say, it wasn’t at all what I expected and I actually really enjoyed it. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time, and I didn’t want to put it down for a second. It has a lot of elements to it, aside from the supernatural aspect. It contains suspense, a bit of horror, thrill, and some romance as well.

Kip is haunted by a dark nocturnal visitor. A winged creature invades her dreams, and it frightens her. When this dream is described, it is amazing. Makes you jump out of the your seat. She turns to Raymond for help, who is an exiled priest. Readers try to figure out whether or not Raymond will be able to help her, and what will develop from it. Their storyline is interesting, one that I personally couldn’t get enough of.

This is a simple read, makes you want to keep turning the pages. Highly recommend.”

Night Sea Journey is a tale of the supernatural, a quiet horror novel with paranormal apparitions, plenty of romance, psychological twists——and murder.

Kip Livingston lives alone in Abasteron House on Horn Island and is a talented painter with an inspired imagination. But she is haunted by a dark nocturnal visitor. Each night while Kip sleeps, a winged creature with greedy teeth invades her dreams and drags her to the bottom of a ghost-grey sea.

For help, she turns to exiled priest Raymond Kera, who falls for her seductive charms. Can Raymond save her from this dream demon? Or will Kip have to save herself?

From the author of The Dazzling Darkness, this supernatural thriller is a gripping mystical, exquisite story, a dreamy tale that delves deep into uncharted waters and will keep your mind racing.

Midwest Book Review   April  2014

“Paula Cappa is a master of the metaphysical mystery genre. “The Dazzling Darkness” documents her as an extraordinary and original storyteller of the first rank. Very highly recommended, it should be noted that “The Dazzling Darkness” is also available in a Kindle edition. Also strongly recommended is Cappa’s previous metaphysical novel “Night Sea Journey: A Tale of the Supernatural.”

Thank you to all my readers who have been so enthusiastic and supportive for my fiction, who drop me comments and emails about my “quiet horror” novels and my short stories. I’m just shy of 17,000 hits on my Tales of Terror blog. And, I’m happy to say I’m 100 pages into my third novel, and have two short stories cookin’ on the back burners. One short story that I am especially excited about is “Beyond Castle Frankenstein” that will be appearing in an anthology by Terry M. West. More news to come in the fall.
